Michelle Ferrigno Warren knows of what she speaks and writes. Regarding social and economic justice, Michelle’s effective engagement with problems of human deprivation is born from her personal experience. 25 years ago, she and her husband, David, helped organize Open Door Ministries, a church and community development corporation in downtown Denver, Colorado. Together, they continue to lead this impressive outreach to individuals suffering from poverty, addiction, and homelessness. While assisting the Open Door team, Michelle pursued a graduate degree in Political Science. Through her consulting firm, Virago Strategies, she organizes women, young people, and human rights advocates to make social change through political action. Suppose all this wasn’t enough to reflect the legacy of our Institute’s namesake, Dietrich Bonhoeffer? In that case, Michelle is also an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary, teaching political advocacy, social concerns, and community development. Her qualities contribute to her exceptional activism and public service and well represent her role as a Senior Fellow of TDBI.

Latest Release — Join the Resistance: Step Into the Good Work of Kingdom Justice
An awakening has been happening across our society. People increasingly recognize how long-standing, systemic issues have prevented many from flourishing. But often Christians are not sure how best to engage. Does it help to march and hold signs? What can we do to contribute and not further complicate things? Faith-rooted justice advocate and activist Michelle Ferrigno Warren equips Christians to join Christ’s restorative work in the world.
“[I]n an age of hashtag and armchair activism, merely raising awareness about injustice is not enough. Michelle Warren knows what is needed. She and her family have chosen to live in communities where they are “proximate to the pain of the poor.” This makes all the difference in facing and overcoming injustice.”
